Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is a postgraduate research University, which represents an autonomous organization, funded mostly by the Government of India. It has more than 5000 students mostly at postgraduate levels. The students are admitted through a National conducting all over India and abroad. Only 2% of those seeking admission get success through very competitive system. JNU has humanities, social sciences and natural sciences schools promoting interdisciplinary research. JNU has more than 100 memorandum of understanding with different countries across the globe. Among the science schools, School of Life Sciences imparts education at Masters degree and Ph D Level. A strong team of researchers are working in the area of Plant Virology within the School of Life Sciences, JNU. Agriculture,

being the most important occupation of the country, researches are being made to improve the productivity of crops through minimizing losses due to biotic stress especially viruses.
