Title and Brief report of the work (max 300 words)

My stay and personal experience at the UoH, Division of Plant Biology, Dept of Biosciences has been very good.

The academic and supporting staffs were very cooperative. I interacted with almost all staff to know about their research activities. I visited almost all research /infrastructural facilities of the department. I actively participated in departmental lab meetings. During the meeting students/staff presented their plan of work/research activities from which I got good opportunities to get exposed to various area of research. I also delivered a presentation to make them familiar about my home University and my academic and research activities there. I got opportunity to hear the PhD thesis defence. I also got opportunity to hear lectures in Symposium on the Next Generation Genomics organised during Oct 24th and 25th 2016 at the University of Helsinki. I also visited University Library. I am satisfied with my stay here.

The research work carried out at the host University are as follows

Objective : To test the sensitivity of mlo mutant towards abiotic stresses.

Experiment No.1 Arabidopsis thaliana mlo mutants and wild types were exposed to various temperatures to access the effect on germination and seedling growth.

Experiment No.2. Arabidopsis thaliana mlo mutants and wild types were exposed to osmotic stresses to access the effect on germination and seedling growth.

Experiment No.3. Arabidopsis thaliana mlo mutants and wild types were exposed to salt stresses to access the effect on germination and seedling growth.

Experiment No.4. Barley mlo mutant and wild types were exposed to ROS stress to access their sensitivity towards the stress.
