Title and Brief report of the work (max 300 words) |
dsRNA based protection studies in PPSMV and PRSV: "I worked on “In vitro synthesis of double-stranded RNA” using six different templates derived from Pigeonpea sterility mosaic virus 1 (PPSMV1) and Papaya ring spot virus (PRSV). He essentially targeted three genes each from PPSMV1 (RdRp, NCP & MP) and PRSV (HcPro, NIb & CP) for dsRNA synthesis. He also delivered two outstanding departmental talks on: 1. Cassava viruses and their RNAi-based transgenic management 2. Genome editing technologies for crop improvement" As a coordinator from Indian side we drafted a DBT-EU (Horizon-2020; SFS-17-2017) Project Proposal on “Development of Novel Strategies for Control of Tomato Infecting Viruses, namely Geminiviruses & Tospoviruses and their Insect Vectors to reduce Pesticide Use” and was submitted to DBT and EU. I also helped a BRAVE scholar from DRPCAU (RAU), Pusa in Bihar (India) to design his master’s dissertation on dsRNA based control of PPSMV in Pigeonpea. |
