Title and Brief report of the work (max 300 words)

Title of my PhD research is " analysis of tobacco RNA dependent RNA polymerase 1 (RDR1) mediated antiviral response". During the period of BRAVE fellowship at UEA, I generated small RNA libraries from NtRDR1 transgenic N. benthamiana and wild-type plants infected with Tomato leaf curl Gujrat Virus. At the moment further analysis of differentially expressed sequences is in the process. The purpose was to understand the function of RDR1 by analyzing differentially expressed small RNAs. We also generated sRNA libraries from rdr1 mutant Arabidopsis and rdr1 mutant tobacco plant. miRNA 159b was found to be having reduced expression in rdr1 mutant Arabidopsis compared with WT plant which was validated by northern blot analysis.

Poster was presented in two seminars/conferences: 1. NoCaSS 2017. Title: “Effect of RDR1 mutation on small RNA abundance in Arabidopsis, N. benthamiana and N. tabacum". 2. 86th conference of Society of Biological Chemists. Title: miRNA 159b shows reduced expression in rdr1 mutant Arabidopsis.
