Research activities were carried on the study of endogenous banana streak virus in banana genome.16 samples of Musa spp. of Assam were taken under consideration,11 out of which were indigenous cultivars and 5 were wild types Detection of integrated virus was done using PCR techniques. Methylation status was studied. Rolling circle amplification (not successful) and inverse PCR were done to amplify episomal virus product. All these results were compiled in the thesis headed “Study on Banana Streak Virus (BSV) genome integration in indigenous and wild cultivars of Musa spp. of Assam, India” and was submitted to the home university in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science (Agriculture) in Agricultural Biotechnology. |
