| Sven-Erik Behrens, PhD, is a Full Professor at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg in Halle (Germany). Sven was born on the 23rd of February 1961 in Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Germany. He studied Biochemistry and obtained his Diploma and PhD from the Free University of Berlin (Germany); however, his doctoral thesis work was performed at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Tumor Research at the Philipps University of Marburg (Germany). With a German Stipend, he spent a 3-year postdoctoral period at the Istituto di Ricerche di Biologia Molecolare (IRBM) in Rome (Italy) before turning back to Germany as a PI at the Institute of Virology at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen. After 6 years in Germany, he went to the Institute of Cancer Research at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia (USA) as a Member (Associate Professor). Turning back after 3 years, he joined the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg in 2006. |
| Sven has published ca. 40 peer-reviewed papers, several book chapters and patent applications. He has received funds from the NIH, the DFG, the BMBF, the EU and several Industry partners. He is a member of several international and national scientific societies. |
